New Visiting Scholar from the University of Malta

Joseph Bugeja, Resident Academic in European and Comparative Law at the University of Malta, will be visiting our School of Law in the period between 24 and 28 November 2025 as "Joint Project Professor"

Dr Bugeja, during his visit, will contribute to the life and the activities of the Department, including delivering two seminars on the EU common commercial policy and the EU economic and monetary union. 

Dr Bugeja graduated B.Ed. (Hons), M.A. (Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies), B.A. (Legal), Notary Public Diploma and LL.D. from the University of Malta, and Ph.D. with the thesis “Effective remedies in public procurement: The case for enhanced harmonisation”, from the University of Groningen, Department of European and Economic Law.

He is a full time Lecturer within the EU and Comparative Law Department, Faculty of Laws, University of Malta, with academic interest in Public Procurement Law and Policy, EU Economic Governance, International Economic Law (The law and policies of the World Trade Organisation), EU Trade Law and Private International Law. He was called to the Bar of Malta in 2004. He practices law in an advisory capacity and also pleads in court audiences at the Maltese Courts of Justice.
